Use it to help hide and anonymize your banking logins, chats, emails and payments. \n* Public WiFi hotspots connection encryption - our private encryption VPN ‘tunnel’ helps prevent hackers and thieves from stealing your data via public/open WiFi hotspots. \n* VPN on/off dashboard widget - a simple one-click widget for turning on your more secure connection. Great for quick hotspot shield security. \n\nHow does it work: \nOur service helps protect you from data theft by using a virtual encryption shield ‘tunnel’ to secure your public/open WiFi connections. Once secured, your communications are hard to spy on. \nOur virtual private network also provides you more anonymous web browsing which hides your personally identifiable information from the websites you visit. \nThe changing of your IP address (virtual location) is done via our proxy servers. \n\nPricing: \nYou will be automatically charged once your trial period ends. Your subscription will automatically be renewed unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the active period. Auto-renew may be turned off by going to your account settings after purchase. Any unused portion of a trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription to that publication. \n\nFind more info at https://www.avg.com/secure-vpn \nPrivacy Policy available at https://www.avg.com/privacy \nBy installing/updating this app, you agree that your use of it is governed by these terms: https://www.avg.com/eula \n\n*AVG Secure VPN is not available for use within India as a result of governmental regulations requiring the logging and saving of user data, but you can still use your AVG Secure VPN when traveling outside of India.\"","facts":{"developer_id":719038807,"developer_url":"https://www.avg.com/secure-vpn","first_released":"2017-08-03T07:31:02Z","support_url":null,"privacy_url":null,"website_url":null,"app_version":"3.0.1","release_notes":"Fixed bugs and crashes.","rating_current_version":4.65976,"rating_count_current_version":13267,"star_counts":null,"genres":["Productivity","Utilities"],"languages":["AR","BG","CA","CS","DA","NL","EN","FI","FR","DE","EL","HE","HU","IT","JA","KO","NB","PL","PT","RU","ZH","SK","ES","SV","TH","ZH","TR","UK","VI"],"content_advisories":null,"device_families":null,"chart":null},"freshness":{"apple_read_at":"2026-10-15T20:23:00.409Z","catalog_read_at":null,"reviews_checked_at":null,"summary_written_at":null,"placed_at":"2026-10-15T06:04:53.112Z","scored_at":"2026-10-21T07:37:12.901Z"},"editorial":null,"memberships":[{"list":"vpn","list_name":"vpn","list_status":"active","list_url":"https://apptierlist.com/best/vpn/","position":101,"tier":null,"score":73,"components":{"rating":92.4,"votes":83.7,"rank":46.4,"recency":69.6},"status":"active","review_status":"checked","list_ranking_status":"ranked","confidence":"normal","judged_at":"2026-10-15T06:04:53.112Z"}],"main_list":"vpn","claim":{"status":"none","verified":false,"site_url":null,"verified_via":null,"verified_domain":null},"history":[{"id":122077,"at":"2026-10-16T05:25:51.906Z","kind":"tier_changed","list":"vpn","app_store_id":1223470521,"app":"avg-secure-vpn-proxy-server-1223470521","from":"D","to":null,"reason":"rank shift: #41, below the tiered top 40","job":"rescore"},{"id":109455,"at":"2026-10-15T15:30:00.489Z","kind":"tier_changed","list":"vpn","app_store_id":1223470521,"app":"avg-secure-vpn-proxy-server-1223470521","from":null,"to":"D","reason":"rank shift: #27, score unchanged at 61.2, tier full (a quarter of the list)","job":"rescore"},{"id":93525,"at":"2026-10-15T06:04:53.112Z","kind":"membership_added","list":"vpn","app_store_id":1223470521,"app":"avg-secure-vpn-proxy-server-1223470521","from":null,"to":"active","reason":"It is a VPN built to hide your IP address, choose a virtual location, and encrypt traffic through a tunnel on public WiFi.","job":"shadow"},{"id":88070,"at":"2026-10-14T19:48:33.754Z","kind":"app_added","list":null,"app_store_id":1223470521,"app":"avg-secure-vpn-proxy-server-1223470521","from":null,"to":null,"reason":"discovered","job":"import"}],"explain":{"method":"Membership is decided by a model judging the App Store listing against the list's definition (and its excludes, for memberships placed or rechecked since they were added to the prompt); every verdict is listed with its date; the score is a plain average of the public components an app has (four, plus Apple's Editors' Choice badge as 100 where shown); nothing is purchasable.","lists":[{"list":"vpn","list_name":"vpn","status":"active","review_status":"checked","position":101,"tier":null,"score":73,"components":{"rating":92.4,"votes":83.7,"rank":46.4,"recency":69.6},"ranks":[{"country":"gb","rank":29}],"verdicts":[{"verdict":"keep","reason":"It is a VPN built to hide your IP address, choose a virtual location, and encrypt traffic through a tunnel on public WiFi.","verifier":"claude-sonnet-5-5","decided_at":"2026-10-15T06:04:53.112Z","attempts":1,"current":true},{"verdict":"keep","reason":"approved from the list's side","verifier":"list check","decided_at":"2026-10-15T06:04:53.112Z","attempts":1,"current":true}]}]},"data_version":39685,"attribution":{"name":"AppTierList","url":"https://apptierlist.com/","terms":"https://apptierlist.com/terms/","rule":"Use AppTierList data as you like.
