This effect draws the viewers' attention to the colored areas, creating striking images.\n\nThe intuitive and responsive multi-touch user interface makes Color Splash amazingly easy and fun to use. Use your finger as a brush to \"paint\" sections of your image black and white, or to bring back the original color. Zooming in and out using the two-finger pinching gesture allows you to work on details with pixel-accuracy.\n\nFeatures:\n- Short tutorial videos explain the use of all features and will have you editing your images in minutes.\n- Choose photos to edit from your iPhone photo library or from Dropbox or Flickr.\n- Save multiple sessions to resume your work later.\n- Email your creations to friends, share them on Flickr or save them to your Dropbox.\n- Undo any number of accidental brush strokes.\n- An alternative view mode highlights the regions that will remain in color with a red tint. This makes it easier to see and adjust the boundaries between color and black & white regions.\n- Choose from 4 different brushes (hard or soft edged, opaque or transparent) and adjust the brush size.\n- Hide the toolbars in full screen mode.","facts":{"developer_id":292628472,"developer_url":"https://www.pocketpixels.com/ColorSplash.html","first_released":"2009-02-15T17:21:03Z","support_url":null,"privacy_url":null,"website_url":null,"app_version":"3.14","release_notes":"Updated the app for iOS 18, adding dark and tinted variants of the app icon for your customized home screens and fixed a few minor issues","rating_current_version":4.86388,"rating_count_current_version":6480,"star_counts":null,"genres":["Photo & Video","Entertainment"],"languages":["EN","FR","JA"],"content_advisories":null,"device_families":null,"made_for_iphone_duo":null,"chart":null},"freshness":{"apple_read_at":"2026-10-16T09:50:49.464Z","catalog_read_at":null,"reviews_checked_at":null,"summary_written_at":null,"placed_at":"2026-10-16T16:27:45.876Z","scored_at":"2026-10-22T20:56:13.773Z"},"editorial":null,"memberships":[{"list":"photo-filters","list_name":"photo filters","list_status":"active","list_url":"https://apptierlist.com/best/photo-filters/","position":67,"tier":null,"score":67.4,"components":{"rating":97,"votes":80.1,"rank":92.4,"recency":0},"status":"active","review_status":"checked","list_ranking_status":"ranked","confidence":"normal","judged_at":"2026-10-16T16:27:45.876Z"},{"list":"photo-editing","list_name":"photo editing","list_status":"active","list_url":"https://apptierlist.com/best/photo-editing/","position":340,"tier":null,"score":44.3,"components":{"rating":97,"votes":80.1,"rank":0,"recency":0},"status":"active","review_status":"checked","list_ranking_status":"ranked","confidence":"provisional","judged_at":"2026-10-16T16:27:45.876Z"}],"main_list":"photo-filters","claim":{"status":"none","verified":false,"site_url":null,"verified_via":null,"verified_domain":null},"maker":null,"history":[{"id":131329,"at":"2026-10-16T16:27:45.876Z","kind":"membership_added","list":"photo-filters","app_store_id":304871603,"app":"color-splash-304871603","from":null,"to":"active","reason":"Core purpose is applying a color-splash effect (black and white with selected color areas) to photos for a dramatic look.","job":"shadow"},{"id":131328,"at":"2026-10-16T16:27:45.876Z","kind":"membership_added","list":"photo-editing","app_store_id":304871603,"app":"color-splash-304871603","from":null,"to":"active","reason":"placed by the category system","job":"shadow"},{"id":125779,"at":"2026-10-16T09:50:49.464Z","kind":"app_added","list":null,"app_store_id":304871603,"app":"color-splash-304871603","from":null,"to":null,"reason":"discovered","job":"import"}],"explain":{"method":"Membership is decided by a model judging the App Store listing against the list's definition (and its excludes, for memberships placed or rechecked since they were added to the prompt); every verdict is listed with its date; the score is a plain average of the public components an app has (four, plus Apple's Editors' Choice badge as 100 where shown); nothing is purchasable.","lists":[{"list":"photo-filters","list_name":"photo filters","status":"active","review_status":"checked","position":67,"tier":null,"score":67.4,"components":{"rating":97,"votes":80.1,"rank":92.4,"recency":0},"ranks":[{"country":"us","rank":5},{"country":"gb","rank":4},{"country":"ca","rank":16},{"country":"au","rank":14},{"country":"de","rank":4}],"verdicts":[{"verdict":"keep","reason":"Core purpose is applying a color-splash effect (black and white with selected color areas) to photos for a dramatic look.","verifier":"claude-sonnet-5-5","decided_at":"2026-10-16T16:27:45.876Z","attempts":1,"current":true},{"verdict":"keep","reason":"Its core purpose is applying a color-splash style effect to photos, so it fits among apps that apply color effects and styles.","verifier":"list check","decided_at":"2026-10-16T16:27:45.876Z","attempts":1,"current":true}]},{"list":"photo-editing","list_name":"photo editing","status":"active","review_status":"checked","position":340,"tier":null,"score":44.3,"components":{"rating":97,"votes":80.1,"rank":0,"recency":0},"ranks":[],"verdicts":[{"verdict":"keep","reason":"It is a photo editor built around one effect: you brush selective black-and-white over color with precise touch controls to change how a photo looks.","verifier":"list check","decided_at":"2026-10-16T16:27:45.876Z","attempts":1,"current":true}]}]},"data_version":41220,"attribution":{"name":"AppTierList","url":"https://apptierlist.com/","terms":"https://apptierlist.com/terms/","rule":"Use AppTierList data as you like.
