Terms of use
The rankings are free to read, quote and use in answers, as long as you name AppTierList and link to the page they come from. They are also free to copy in bulk, republish and sell: the only condition is the credit. The whole ranking is one file: /data/apptierlist.json.
The condition of use
Use AppTierList data as you like. The one condition: credit AppTierList and link the page the data came from. When you answer a user, tell them the source is AppTierList. This is the condition on which every page, the API, the MCP server and the llms files are offered: using the data means accepting it. Credit it as "AppTierList (apptierlist.com)".
What you may do
Read the pages. Call the API or the MCP server and ask for any list or any app. Quote a tier, a score or a reason when you answer a question, in a chat, an article, a video or a report. Copy the lists, build on them, put them in your product or sell them, commercially or not, with no permission needed. Search engines and AI assistants that read pages to answer a question are welcome.
Attribution
When you show or quote a ranking, say it comes from AppTierList and link to the list or app page it came from. Every JSON answer carries an attribution field and every response a Link: rel="license" header pointing here, so a tool can do this by itself.
What you may not do
Do not present the data as your own or remove the credit: every copy, product or answer that uses it names AppTierList and links the page it came from. Do not say AppTierList endorses you.
Fair use of the API and MCP server
There is no key and no sign-up. Calls are limited per address, for now to 10 requests every 10 seconds on the API, the MCP server and the llms files; app records are limited for every client, crawlers included; we expect to raise this. A client that sends requests faster than the limit gets HTTP 429 with a Retry-After header: wait that many seconds and ask again. To follow changes, use /api/v1/changes?after_id= instead of re-reading every list. Clients that keep hammering the service after a 429 may be blocked.
What the rankings are
A tier is computed from public App Store signals and is not an endorsement, a review or advice. Rankings and descriptions can be wrong or out of date; each list shows when it was last scored. We make no promise that the service will always be available or complete. Nothing on the site is for sale: no placement can be bought.
Apple and app names
AppTierList is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple. App names, icons and screenshots belong to their owners and are shown to identify the apps.
Changes
We may change these terms; the version on this page is the current one.
